Why Export YouTube Comments?
YouTube comments are one of the richest sources of unfiltered audience data on the internet — questions, reactions, complaints, praise, and debate all in one thread. A free YouTube comment downloader lets you work with that data instead of just reading it.
Sentiment analysis, NLP training sets, community audits, brand monitoring, academic research — all of these workflows start with a clean export. Manually copy-pasting comments from a browser isn't an option once you're past a few dozen rows.
Skipioo's YouTube comment exporter fetches up to 1,000 comments including all reply threads and delivers them in five structured formats. Pick CSV for spreadsheets, JSON or XML for code pipelines, or TXT and Markdown for human-readable archives.
Sentiment Analysis
Export to CSV and run NLP pipelines to quantify positive, negative, and neutral reactions at scale.
Academic Research
Pull structured comment datasets for sociology, linguistics, media studies, or computational social science.
Community Audits
Identify spam, toxic patterns, or brand-safety issues across a channel's comment history.
Comment Archival
Preserve full comment threads before a video goes private, gets deleted, or comments are turned off.
Voice-of-Customer Research
Mine real viewer questions and pain points to inform product, content, or marketing strategy.
ML Training Data
JSON and XML exports plug directly into labeling tools and training pipelines for text classification models.
Skipioo vs Other YouTube Comment Exporters
Most free YouTube comment downloaders cap you at a handful of comments or lock formats behind a paywall. Skipioo doesn't.

Which Export Format Should You Use?
Every format includes comment text, author, date, likes, and reply threads. Here's when to pick each one.
CSV
Best for spreadsheetsOpen directly in Excel or Google Sheets. Each comment is a row with columns for author, date, likes, text, and parent ID. Ideal for sorting, filtering, and pivot tables.
JSON
Best for developersNested structure preserves reply threads natively. Plug straight into Python, Node.js, or any data pipeline. The go-to format for NLP and ML workflows.
XML
Best for pipelinesSchema-friendly format for enterprise tools, XSLT transformations, and legacy data systems. Includes full thread hierarchy with parent_id attributes.
TXT
Best for readingPlain readable text — one comment per block. Perfect for quick review, sharing with non-technical stakeholders, or archiving a thread as a document.
Markdown
Best for documentationFormatted with headers and bold author names. Drop it into Notion, Obsidian, GitHub, or any Markdown-compatible tool for a clean, readable comment log.

What YouTube Content Can You Download Comments From?
Not every type of YouTube content works the same way. Skipioo supports comment downloads from most public YouTube content with a standard comment section — here's what you can analyze.
Standard YouTube Videos
Paste any public video URL and Skipioo downloads the available comments instantly — export as CSV, JSON, TXT, XML, or Markdown, including reply threads when available.
youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_IDYouTube Shorts
Shorts use the same public comment system as regular videos. Paste the Shorts URL and Skipioo automatically extracts the comments — no extra steps required.
youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_IDArchived Live Streams
Once a live stream has ended and is available as a public video with a standard comment section, Skipioo can download its comments just like any other video.
youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_IDYouTube Premieres
After a Premiere finishes and becomes a normal public video, Skipioo can download its comments the same way as any other YouTube upload.
Why some content isn't supported
Skipioo retrieves comments using the official YouTube Data API. If a video has comments disabled, is private, has been removed, or doesn't expose a public comment section, there are no comments available to download. Live chat messages from streams are handled separately by YouTube and can't be exported as standard video comments.
