How to Make a QR Code for a YouTube Video
Copy the YouTube video URL
Copy the link to any standard YouTube video, Short, shortened youtu.be link, or supported embed URL.
Paste it into the Video QR tab
Select the Video QR tab and paste the link. The tool validates the URL and converts it into a clean link for the QR code.
Customize the QR code
Choose the PNG size, error correction level, colors, and quiet zone. The preview updates live as you adjust each setting.
Generate and download
Preview the QR code, test it with your phone if you like, then download it as PNG or SVG. No watermark, no sign-up required.
If you need to make a QR code for a YouTube video for a poster, flyer, presentation, product packaging, classroom material, or business card, the QR code lets people open the video by scanning it with their phone — no typing a URL required.
YouTube Video QR Code Generator vs. YouTube Channel QR Code Generator
YouTube Video QR Code Generator
A video QR code links directly to a specific YouTube video. Paste a watch, Shorts, youtu.be, or embed URL and the tool normalizes it into a clean canonical link. This is ideal for sharing a single video on posters, business cards, packaging, or presentation slides — anyone who scans it lands on that exact video.
YouTube Channel QR Code Generator
A channel QR code links to an entire YouTube channel rather than a single video. Enter a channel URL or @handle and the tool builds a clean channel link. This is useful for storefronts, event booths, and printed marketing where you want people to discover your whole catalog, not just one upload.
PNG vs. SVG: which format should you download?
Both formats produce a scannable YouTube QR code, but they serve different purposes depending on where the code will appear.
PNG
PNG is a raster format — a grid of pixels at a fixed resolution. It is the best choice for websites, social media, and digital sharing where the QR code will be displayed at a known size.
Pick a size that matches your display: 200–500 px for screens, 1000 px for high-quality images, 2000 px for print. Because PNG is pixel-based, enlarging it beyond its native size causes blurring.
SVG
SVG is a vector format — the QR code is described as shapes, not pixels. It stays perfectly sharp at any size, from a favicon to a billboard, which makes it the best choice for printing and scalable designs.
Because SVG is resolution-independent, the size setting mostly affects the PNG export. For SVG, choose a size that reflects how the code will be displayed if you also need a PNG from the same settings.
QR error correction explained
QR codes use Reed-Solomon error correction, which lets a scanner read the code even if part of it is damaged, obscured, or overlaid. Higher levels recover more damage but produce a denser code.
| Level | Approximate recovery | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| L — Low (7%) | ~7% | Clean digital use |
| M — Medium (15%) | ~15% | Most uses |
| Q — Quartile (25%) | ~25% | Print materials |
| H — High (30%) | ~30% | Higher damage tolerance |
Medium (M) is the recommended default and works well for most digital use. Move up to Quartile (Q) or High (H) when the code will be printed and may get scratched, folded, or partially covered.
QR code size and the quiet zone
Choosing a size
The size setting controls the resolution of the PNG export. 200–500 px is plenty for websites and digital sharing. 1000 px is good for high-quality images. 2000 px suits large print materials. SVG output is vector-based, so it remains sharp regardless of the chosen size — the setting mainly matters for the PNG.
The margin (quiet zone)
The margin is the blank space around the QR code. Scanners rely on this quiet zone to locate the code and read it reliably. A margin of 4 modules is the recommended default and matches the QR specification. Setting it to 0 risks scan failures, especially when the code is placed near other graphics or text.
Ways to Use a YouTube QR Code
Share a YouTube video offline
Add a QR code to posters, flyers, brochures, menus, or printed materials so people can open a video without typing a URL.
Promote your YouTube channel
Use a YouTube Channel QR Code Generator to create a scannable link to your channel for business cards, event booths, packaging, and promotional material.
Add videos to presentations
Place a video QR code on a presentation slide so viewers can open the video later from their own device instead of everyone crowding around one screen.
Connect physical products to video content
Link product packaging, manuals, educational materials, or displays directly to tutorials, demonstrations, reviews, or other YouTube videos.
